Siddiqah Islam, Junior Interaction Designer

User centred design (UCD) maturity working group

How might we improve UCD ways of working across our products and services? From a design, user research, content point of view.

Our x-Gov team retros show evidence that there are problems with our current ways of working from a user centred design perspective. We began to investigate this more deeply by running retrospectives for the UCD profession across Justice Services on ‘how we work together’.

Non standard magistrates fee

Non standard magistrate fees are claimed when the standard monthly payments do not cover the amount of work carried out by a solicitor for a case.

We want to reduce the administrative burden on both providers and caseworkers for applications, decrease the time it takes to make an application and assessment and finally reduce reliance on paper bills.

Case list pages

Documenting design decisions on the ‘case list’ pattern for the MOJ Pattern Library.

This is an extension of the work related to ‘Request a Solicitor’, focusing on a specific user type and their needs.

Request a solicitor

Within the Legal Aid Agency  – Get Access space: Request a Solicitor is an online form for custody to request Duty, Own Solicitors or Criminal Defence Direct or Immigration. We want to reduce calls to the DSCC and improve data quality. This is consistent with HMPPS ‘book a prisoner move’ service.
